Tristan Scroggins

My name is Tristan Scroggins. I'm a full-time mandolinist and educator, based in Nashville, TN. I post videos of myself playing tunes on the mandolin in a variety of different style but mostly focused around bluegrass and old time. In addition to my regular posts, I share educational content such as transcriptions and video lessons. I've played the mandolin for 15 years and have toured as a full-time professional for nearly a decade. In that time I've performed in a dozen different countries and conducted countless mandolin workshops. I've performed on the stage of both the Grand Ole Opry and the Ryman Auditorium and, in 2017, I was honored with the International Bluegrass Music Association's momentum award for Instrumentalist of the Year.  You can join my Patreon for as little as $3/month. At $10/month you can access a monthly video lesson series teaching a tune as well as all of the previous lessons. The higher the tiers, the more perks and rewards — such as PDF transcriptions of the tunes, and discounts on my CDs and lessons. I first started posting videos regularly on Instagram in late 2018. I became extremely interested in Jesse McReynold's crosspicking mandolin style. I started to share videos of me learning the style and also making something of my own out of it. Learning these familiar tunes in a new way inspired me to learn new tunes that I had always meant to learn. I decided I wanted to lower the number of times I would have to say "I don't know that tune" in a jam. I still post the videos on Facebook and Instagram but Patreon allows me to share more exclusive content.  One of my biggest requests is for transcriptions of the tunes I learn and this platform helps me share those. It's easier for me to grow a community here that feels both safe and educational. As a performer, I'm happy to share what I learn with the world but your support allows me the freedom to share how I learned it with you and others.
